Geared away from the techno geek, a Playaway® is for those who want to press the button and listen. Now, thanks to a generous donation from BB&T, Newton County Library System now offers the first-ever self-playing audio book.
Smaller
than a deck of cards, this digital audio device comes permanently loaded
with an audio book. Plug in your favorite pair of headphones, put in a
battery, press the go button and start listening. No cassettes, no
CD's, no uploading, downloading, or lugging around the right player.
Playaway®
audio books explore the essence of convenience. Using
clear directions in the case you can quickly learn how to control the speed
of the narrator's voice, place a digital bookmark and move forward and back
through the book.
Just like checking out a book, when you finish listening, return it to the library and check out another. With BB&T's gift we started out with a generous supply but you'll need to come in and try them out before they fly off the shelf.

Are you contemplating a trip and lugging books and music with you? Consider how convenient it would be to have your book and music in the same place; on your own MP3 player.
Use your MP3 player to upload a book from our MP3 audio book CD's. You don't have to download from the Internet or pay any royalty fees. Just check out the MP3 audio book, transfer it to your own player and listen. When you're done, just erase the book from your player.
