Some companies that offer free e-mail accounts include:
NOTE: (The library does not endorse nor recommend any e-mail service provider.)
Steps to Follow to Setup An Email Account:
1. With the Internet Explorer window open, use the left mouse button to single click in the Address bar at the top of the screen. All letters in that bar will turn blue.
2. Type one of the above addresses and press the Enter key on the keyboard. You will be taken to their web site.
3. Use the left mouse button to single click on “Mail”, “Signup for e-mail” or other similar wording then follow the directions.
4. Use the left mouse button to single click within each blank to fill in your name, address, etc. Just read the screen and follow the directions.
Things to Remember:
• You will need to create a user name and a password. When you type the password, only ***** will appear to hide the word from others.
• Write down your user name and password. The library will not have a record of either.
• If you forget your password AND if you already have another e-mail account, you may be asked for that other e-mail address. If this new account is your only e-mail address, leave the box marked “Current E-mail Address” blank.
• Fill in the remaining questions and click on “Submit” or “Done” or other similar wording.
• If you have filled out the form correctly, you will then see a Welcome screen where your In Box will probably have a message to welcome you to the service.
• To send mail, click on “Compose” or “New Message” or similar wording.
• To read mail from your In Box, click on the blue underlined words for each message subject, on “Read Mail” or on similar wording.
Keep in Mind:
• Millions of people use these free e-mail services everyday. Your response time may be slow and the systems may be completely shut down at times.
• You can forward a message that you have received to another person.
• You can put attachments with your e-mail, download files and upload files (but not executable files).
• Please ask for assistance if you have any questions.
