H1N1 (Swine Flu) Info Guide
What is H1N1 Flu?

H1N1 (Swine) flu is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. The virus is spreading from person-to-person, in the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that a global pandemic of H1N1 (Swine) flu. Extensive efforts are underway to track and monitor the spread of the flu.
The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) encourages everyone to take action and be prepared to fight the seasonal flu and novel influenza A (H1N1) viruses this fall. September is National Preparedness month and an opportunity for individuals, families and businesses to learn how to slow the spread of the disease in their communities.
