Shhhh... Quiet Thursdays!
Are you struggling to keep your New Year’s resolutions? Here’s an easy one to keep—help us celebrate Quiet Thursdays at the Newton County Library System. Beginning on Thursday, February 4, we will be asking everyone who comes into the library on Thursdays to be especially quiet.
Children will have the opportunity to join our free Quiet Club where they promise to be quiet and will encourage others to do the same. Each child who registers will receive a membership card and a button declaring their active participation in the program. Also in the Children’s Room a sound-activated traffic light will indicate when the noise level gets too high. Staff members will then be able to gently remind everyone to lower their voices.
When you approach the library on Thursdays you will be greeted by a cheerful yellow road sign declaring “Quiet Zone Today” and once inside signs and photos will remind you to be especially quiet. We at the library are very happy to be able to provide this quiet environment each Thursday in response to the needs of our patrons. For further information, please call the Newton County Library at 770-787-3231. The Library is located at 7116 Floyd Street, Covington, GA 30014.
